In our society, marriage is often viewed as something negative and certain to not last. However, we have to all understand marriage is a ministry unto God; a covenant. A covenant means it is joined by God for His glory, thus you don’t just run and quit when things get rough.
Disclaimer: I am not suggesting these are the only reasons singles should get married. I am simply providing a more open view to some benefits of being married versus being single.
Here are 7 reasons why you should get married:
1. Longer life. Countless researchers have shown that men and woman live longer being married.
2. Less Stress. Some who are married may disagree with this one, but research has shown healthy and secure marriages foster environments to handle the stress of life.
3. Family. Although we all know people who have had children out of wedlock, marriage is the nest and the most secure environment to have children and start a family.
4. Legal benefits. If you are not married you are single. There are certain legal benefits that come from being married. So, for those of you who act married, but you are single, get married when the time is right. Until you are married, you are ‘single, in a relationship’.
5. Sex. Now, don’t take this reason as if I am suggesting it is ok to get married just for sex, because I am not. What I am saying is when you are married you can have sex without the guilt or various concerns people have when having sex out of wedlock. The guilt comes from disappointing yourself, God, and other values you associate with your sexual nature. Learn more about sexual soul ties here-> ‘ 3 things you need to know about sexual soul ties” . Learn how to overcome sexual soul ties here-> “ 5 Ways to overcome sexual soul ties ” Learn the dangers of sex before marriage here -> The 5 Deadly Venoms of Sex before Marriage”
6. Finances. Marriage can improve your financial life, because two people can combine income into one family income. In general, society has always been designed to make life a little easier for married people. Married couples benefit from tax breaks, lower insurance costs, various other financial benefits, and more…
7. Stability. Marriage gives men and women a stable balance. They have each other for support. Yes, you can have this outside of marriage, but I feel marriage brings stability in a way God intended for all of us to have (assuming you desire marriage).
Many of the reasons I listed can be obtained without marriage, but they are better shared under the covenant of God with that one special someone.

I love it. Very clear, simple, and everything is listed here. From marriage comes stability, healthy sex and relationship, and of course family, which God intended from the beginning. When the foundation is God, you can overcome anything… That’s beautiful, and it’s sad to see society and people, especially from this generation, don’t believe in marriage anymore, and took the wrong role models as examples of what marriage should look like.
I can’t wait for the big day when I will die to self just to become one flesh, under God’s protection.
Thank you Princess….that is the way God wants it to be for all of us. Marriage works…..when love works..and God is the foundation for the marriage. Your day is coming my friend
One of the best benefits not listed is that you have a built in prayer partner to agree with you! God’s word says “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you” (Matthew 18:19 – how great is it that when you go to God in prayer with your spouse, you can stand firm on that promise that our Heavenly Father will make it happen! 🙂
As stated above this is not an all inclusive list….Prayer is good no matter what…with or w/o a spouse and powerful no matter who we in agreement with…Prayer with a future spouse is wonderful and very important….The purpose of this list was to list things people don’t commonly associate with a true benefit of marriage in the way God truly attended, so prayer was not neglected….just something I know people naturally associate with it….at least that’s what I think. Thank you for your contribution my friend:-)

I love this. Yes like Sandi stated. Prayer is vital to a family. I believe that through prayer a family can over come anything cause they will allow the spirit to move through them and they will recieve the answer. A family that prays to gether stays together.
Yes Prayer is very important
However I really enjoyed what you said about getting over one’s past I cannot agree with the above. No cash, prestige finances, longer life, or whatever else is not a reason for getting married. Unfortunately I know far to many men who lurre women into getting married not because they love her but because a corporate official is supposed to settle down around 30- looks better in CV if you have a wife and 2 kids. I am constantly adored and pressured to have sex by a guy who got married and claims he loves his wife and preaches me that marital life solves a lot of daily burdens and two people are able to deal with shitload of stuff more than one person can. Lastly in conservative countries like Spain brothels are full of men who later go on Sunday to the church. So love, and only real love should be the reason of getting married.
Love is the top reason for getting married as I discussed in my article, but we can be naive and believe there are not other benefits to marriage.
Hi 🙂 But I meant another thing. Marriage is the best setting for healthy love implementation, I do not argue that. I only am sad how many hypocrites surround me. I know so many couples who stick together, got married in the church etc., have kids and yet I know they have done it either for cash, or because someone was just persistent (my problem, some men try to propose so much with being blind I am not open for a relationship with them…but yet they try and try and some women surrender to such persistent besieging strategy), or a guy wanted to settle down with any available lady cause he is 30 and it is good for his CV and image, or a lady simply wanted to have kids and it was far less important with whom etc. Also so many pregnant women get married etc…sometimes I think young Indian generation might be far happier than a lot of Polish men and women I see around. Overally I set myself for nothing less than absolutely love and passion of my life. If I do not meet that I will remain single.
Well just maybe if God Didn’t punish a good man like me to begin with, I certainly would’ve been Married. And it is Not fair at all to see so many men and women that were Very Blessed to have one another with their families. Hate very much being alone and single too.
